Ankeny Model Portraits - Sandeen Photography
As a creative, it's crucial to step out of the box and try new techniques. Often challenging and sometimes frustrating, sharpening your skills is essential in photography. Personal projects outside of my normal genres are where I quickly turn to hone new techniques. Shooting with gels on lights is definitely not a new concept. However, this project made me think differently about how they can be used, and how to finesse them into my other portrait work. Alex is a fellow photographer, makeup artist, as well as a local model. Being a fellow creative from Des Moines made her the perfect subject to work with. We ended up with some killer shots out of my studio in Ankeny, and I just had to share some of the results.
No studio session is complete without stepping out into the local junkyard. This is one of the things I love MOST about being based in Ankeny. The variety of locations available to me is almost limitless within 10-15 mins of my front door. This was an extremely productive shoot, and I just couldn't wait any longer to push the results out into the world. I really enjoy the multiple looks we were able to achieve in the short amount of time we photographed.
